Triple bill of apocalyptic sci-fi movies. John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Woody Harrelson star in '2012' (2009). The ancient Mayan calendar has predicted that the world will end on 21 December 2012 and scientists have confirmed the prediction as fact, but as the fateful date looms ever closer and tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and typhoons begin to cause devastating destruction, desperate efforts are made across the world to try to prevent or prepare for the inevitable disaster. Jackson Curtis (Cusack), a divorced writer and researcher trying to survive the cataclysm with his daughter, draws on his knowledge of ancient writings to keep them and others who have managed to survive alive. 'Terminator Salvation' (2009) is the fourth film in the hugely popular 'Terminator' franchise. The film is set in 2018 in a post-apocalyptic world where the human race is at war with Skynet and its army of deadly Terminators. John Connor (Christian Bale) is a young soldier who is destined to become the leader of the human resistance. However, he is forced to question his certainty about the future when a mysterious stranger named Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) suddenly appears, and John must decide whether he has been sent from the past or the future. As Skynet grows more and more powerful and all hope for the human race looks like being eliminated in one final devastating attack, John and Marcus journey to the centre of Skynet's operations where they discover a shocking secret... 'Children of Men' (2006) is set in a world in which humans have almost completely lost the ability to procreate, and there is a search on for any remaining specimen that can. It's the year 2027 and earth's youngest human being, at 18, has just died. Extinction seems a certainty, aided by the fact that wars are now waged continually between desperate nationalistic factions. Set against the backdrop of London, Clive Owen plays Theo, a former activist now bureaucrat informed of the discovery of a lone pregnant woman - ostensibly Earth's last hope. The challenge is to deliver her from harm to a place where her baby can be delivered safely. Understandably, there is more than one of the warring factions that would benefit from getting their hands on her.
