What is Blu-ray?
Blu-ray is the next generation format for high definition home entertainment. If you want to get the best in high definition for your HDTV, you want to get Blu-ray.
In 2008 the BVA set up the Blu-ray Partners whose members comprise the major Blu-ray Disc distributors and a number of hardware player manufacturers.
This unique relationship allows us to speak to UK consumers, retailers and media on behalf of all the key participants in Blu-ray development.
Our aims are to:
- Raise public awareness that Blu-ray is the best method of receiving high quality home entertainment
- Encourage consumers to make the most of their HD-Ready TVs by connecting to a Blu-ray player
We've achieved a lot since 2008!
Our website www.thisisbluray.co.uk is now the most comprehensive destination for Blu-ray information.

A £1 million campaign has been launched to raise awareness of the benefits of Blu-ray and the exciting movie releases available on Blu-ray discs in the run up to Christmas.
The campaign is lead by advertising across all major television channels from November and throughout December and will be seen by over 40 million individuals at least once.
The full Campaign press release can be downloaded here and the Ad campaign launch release here.
The campaign is designed to excite consumers, whilst simultaneously a PR campaign is set to overcome the potential consumer barriers to the purchase of Blu-ray players and discs and tackle the lack of understanding about the format.
